Getting Started with Sentryrec

Welcome to Sentryrec! This comprehensive guide will walk you through everything you need to know to get started with recording your favorite cam site content.

What You'll Need

Before we begin, make sure you have:

• A Windows (64-bit) or macOS (Intel or Apple Silicon) computer
• At least 10 GB of free disk space for the application and recordings
• A stable internet connection
• A free Sentryrec account (you can sign up during installation)

Step 1: Download Sentryrec

1. Visit the Sentryrec homepage
2. Click the "Download" button
3. Choose your operating system:
   • Windows: Download the Windows installer (.exe)
   • macOS Intel: For Intel-based Macs (older models)
   • macOS Apple Silicon: For M1/M2/M3 Macs (newer models)

The download should start automatically. The file is approximately 200-300 MB depending on your platform.

Step 2: Install Sentryrec

Windows Installation

1. Locate the downloaded .exe file in your Downloads folder
2. Double-click the installer to run it
3. If Windows shows a security warning, click "More info" then "Run anyway"
4. Follow the installation wizard:
   • Accept the license agreement
   • Choose installation location (default is recommended)
   • Click "Install"
5. Wait for the installation to complete (usually 1-2 minutes)
6. Click "Finish" to launch Sentryrec

macOS Installation

1. Locate the downloaded .dmg file in your Downloads folder
2. Double-click to mount the disk image
3. Drag the Sentryrec app icon to your Applications folder
4. Open Sentryrec from your Applications folder
5. If macOS shows a security warning:
   • Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy
   • Click "Open Anyway" next to the Sentryrec message
   • Confirm by clicking "Open"

Step 3: Create Your Free Account

When you first launch Sentryrec, you'll be prompted to create an account:

1. Click "Create Account" on the welcome screen
2. Enter your details:
   • Choose a unique username
   • Provide a valid email address
   • Create a strong password
3. Complete the CAPTCHA verification
4. Click "Sign Up"
5. Check your email for a verification link (check spam folder if not found)
6. Click the verification link to activate your account

Note: You can start using Sentryrec immediately even before verifying your email!

Step 4: Add Your First Model

Now that you're set up, let's add your first model to record:

1. In the Sentryrec main window, navigate to the "Models" tab
2. Click the "Add Model" button (+ icon)
3. Enter the model's information:
   • Model Name: The performer's username
   • Site: Select the cam site (e.g., Chaturbate, Stripchat, MyFreeCams)
   • Recording Mode: Choose from:
     • Manual: Record only when you click "Start Recording"
     • Auto Record: Automatically record when the model goes live (Premium feature)
     • Monitor: View live thumbnails without recording (Premium feature)
4. Click "Add" to save the model

Step 5: Start Your First Recording

Manual Recording (Free Tier)

1. Find your model in the Models list
2. Wait for the status indicator to show "Online" (green dot)
3. Click the "Record" button next to the model's name
4. The recording will start automatically and you'll see:
   • Recording duration timer
   • File size indicator
   • Live thumbnail preview (if enabled)
5. To stop recording, click the "Stop" button

Auto Recording (Premium Feature)

With a Premium subscription, you can set models to auto-record:

1. Right-click on a model in your list
2. Select "Auto Record When Online"
3. Sentryrec will automatically start recording whenever the model goes live
4. Recordings will continue even if you close the app (background mode)

Step 6: Find Your Recordings

Your recordings are automatically saved and organized:

1. Navigate to the "Review" tab to see all your recordings
2. Each recording shows:
   • Thumbnail grid preview
   • Recording date and time
   • Duration and file size
   • Model name and site
3. Click on any recording to:
   • Play it in your default video player
   • Open the file location
   • Delete unwanted recordings

Default Storage Locations

Your recordings are saved here by default:

• Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\sentryrec\videos\out
• macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/sentryrec/videos/out

You can change this location in Settings.

Step 7: Customize Your Settings

Make Sentryrec work exactly how you want:

1. Click the "Settings" icon (gear icon) in the top navigation
2. Explore key settings:
   • Video Output Directory: Change where recordings are saved
   • Video Quality: Adjust recording quality (higher = larger files)
   • Filename Format: Customize how recordings are named
   • Disk Space Management: Set minimum free space threshold
   • Chaturbate Headers: Enable for better Chaturbate recording (highly recommended)
